How Much Data Does IPTV Use?

Data is expensive in many African countries, so it pays to know exactly how much you will use. Here are real-world numbers and a calculator to plan your bundle.

Data use per hour

  • SD (480p): about 0.7–1 GB per hour, best for mobile data
  • HD (720p): about 1.5–2 GB per hour
  • Full HD (1080p): about 2.5–3 GB per hour
  • 4K (2160p): about 7 GB per hour, Wi-Fi or fibre only

Monthly data calculator

≈ 108 GB per month (3.6 GB per day)

How to use less data

  1. Set the player to SD or Auto quality when you are on mobile data.
  2. Watch big matches on Wi-Fi or a night/weekend bundle if your network offers one.
  3. Use catch-up to watch highlights instead of the full 90 minutes.
  4. Close the player completely when you stop watching.

A full 90-minute football match in SD uses about 1–1.5 GB. In HD it is about 2.5–3 GB.
